12/22/2006 – Shortly before 08:00 hours Engine 10 was alerted to assist Co.41 on Interstate 78 west bound at mile marker 7 with an auto accident with entrapment. Engine 10 was assigned to assist with removal of the patient from the vehicle as it was down over an embankment and also possibly establish a landing zone for aero medical services. However EMS personnel determined that a helicopter was not needed and would transport by ground. Engine 10 was on scene for about ½ hour. Other units on scene: Co.41 (Fredericksburg fire), Amb.190

Auto Accident with Entrapment

12/20/2006 – 23:00 hours Rescue 10 was alerted to assist with an accident on Thompson  Ave. south of Heilmandale Rd. in N. Annville Twp. Engine 7 arrived on scene with confirmed entrapment and requested 2nd due rescue. Rescue 10 arrived and performed the extrication, while others searched the area for a possible second victim. The rescue was in quarters an hour later. Companies on scene Station 7(Water Works Fire), Rescue 5(Annville fire), QRS 6(Bellegrove Fire), and EMS.

11/25/2006 – At 12:00 hours Rescue 10 was alerted to assist company 11 on Huckleberry Rd. in Union Twp. with a horse and rider trapped in mud up to their necks. Shortly after Chief 11(Snyder) went responding county advised that the rider was self extricated but, that the horse was still trapped. Rescue 10 was assigned to assist with an animal rescue by providing rope and manpower and other items! Crews worked for over 2 hours to free the animal! Units on scene: Company 11(Lickdale Fire), Utility 5(Annville fire), and First Aid and Safety Patrol.

Multi-Alarm Commercial Structure Fire

10/25/2006 – Shortly before 09:00 hours box 25-56 was alerted for a commercial structure fire at the old Alcoa plant in the 3000 block of State Dr.  Just after 09:30 Rescue 10 was alerted to assist on the 3rd alarm.  Around 14:00 hours every company in the county was alerted to send man power to this incident along with companies from every surrounding county! Estimates are that this fire went to some where between 6 – 9 alarms however the box was depleted before the actual number could be determined and local news agencies are calling this fire the largest in Lebanon county history! As the companies involved are too numerous to list here…..All Lebanon county companies, Also companies from Berks, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Perry, and Schuylkill counties assisted on scene or transferred to areas that had virtually no fire protection. Special thanks to Ravine Fire for standing by at station 10!

Auto Accident with Entrapment

10/18/2006 - 08:00 hours Rescue 10 was alerted to assist on box 9-04 on Tunnel hill Rd. with an auto accident with entrapment. The rescue assisted with stabilization of the vehicle and extricating the patient. Co. 10 was back in quarters about an hour later….Also on scene Co. 9(Ebenezer Fire), Rescue 24(Independent Fire), Amb. Co 190, Medic 12.

Auto Accident with Entrapment

10/13/2006 – 17:40 hours Rescue 10 was alerted to an accident with entrapment on Interstate 78 at mile marker 2 east bound on box 11-96. Rescue 10 was assigned to perform extrication and was clear of the scene after about 30 minutes. Also on scene Co.11 (Lickdale Fire) and Amb. Co 190 with Medic 12

10/11/2006 – Just after 14:30 hours Rescue 10 was alerted to an accident with injuries at Rt.22 & N. Lancaster St... The rescue assisted with patient care and secured the vehicles involved. The rescue was on scene for about an hour

Auto Accident with Injuries

10/09/2006 – 12:39 hours Rescue 10 was alerted to assist Co. 7 with an accident with injuries at the intersection of Thompson Ave. & Heilmandale Rd. on Box 7-04. Rescue 10 was assigned to assist with patient care and debris removal. Rescue 10 was on scene for about a half hour. Also on scene Co.7 (Water Works Fire) and  Amb. Co.190

10/02/2006 – Just after 15:00 hours box 12-01 was alerted for an auto accident with injuries on Rt.934 in the Area of Rt.22. Rescue 10 was assigned to assist with patient care. The rescue was on scene for about 15 minutes. Also on scene Co.12 (Ono Fire), Amb.190, Medic 12.

Auto Accident with Entrapment

09/30/2006 – Shortly before 16:00 hours Rescue 10 was alerted to assist Co.75 with an Auto accident with entrapment on Calvary Rd. on the Ft. Indiantown Gap military Post.  Rescue 10 was assigned to assist with extrication. Rescue 10 was back in quarters about 1 ½ hours later. Units on scene Co.75 (Ft. Indiantown Gap fire), Engine 11(Lickdale Fire), Amb. 190 & 75, Medic 12, Life Lion Air Medical service.

Auto Accident with Ejection

09/23/2006 – Just after 01:00 hours Box 12-97 was alerted for Rt.22 & Lincoln School Rd. for an Auto Accident with Ejection. Pt 12 Arrived on scene and Assistant 12(Martin) Established command. Rescue 10 was assigned to assist with patient packaging and extrication from over an embankment.  Crews were on scene for about an hour. Also on scene Co.12 (Ono fire), Amb.190, Medic 12, Life Lion.

Auto Accident with Injuries

09/18/2006 - Shortly before noon Rescue 10 was alerted to assist with an Auto Accident with Injuries in E. Hanover Twp at Rt.22 & Lincoln School rd. Rescue 10 was assigned to assist E.M.S. with Patient care and packaging. The Rescue was back in quarters about 45 minutes later. Also on Scene Co.12 (Ono Fire), Amb.190, Amb.75.

Auto Accidents keep company 10 busy...

08/23-24/2006 – Rescue 10 returned to service just in time…Beginning Wednesday afternoon just before  14:00 hours the rescue responded to I-81 south bound just south of the I-78 split and assisted Co.11(Lickdale Fire) with an auto accident with injuries.  Shortly after 02:00 hours Engine & Rescue 10 assisted Co.47 (Bunkerhill fire) with Auto Accident with a vehicle into a telephone pole on Old Rt.22 at the intersection of Rt.22.  Finally about 08:00 hours this morning Engine & Rescue 10 had an Auto Accident with injuries in Jonestown Borough at Mill & Market Streets.

Auto Accident with Injuries

08/12/2006 – 15:48 hours - Company 10 was alerted to an Auto Accident with Injuries at the intersection of Market & King Streets in Jonestown Borough. Chief10 (Bachman) arrived on the scene and confirmed 2 patients and 1 with possible confinement. Just before the arrival of Engine & Rescue 10 the patient extricated himself and crew from company 10 handled patient care and spill control.  Company 10 was on the scene for about an hour.

4 alarm Salvage Yard Fire

08/03/2006 – Just before 05:00 Hours Company 10 was alerted to assist on a fire at Weaver’s Salvage yard on Homestead Rd. in E. Hanover twp. on Box 12-04.  Chief 12(Hetrick) arrived on the scene confirmed a working fire with about 40-50 junk automobiles involved.  Chief 12 immediately requested additional resources including units from the County foam task force, EMA Hazmat, and Tankers from all over Lebanon & Dauphin Counties. Once water supply was established and foam units were in place the main body of fire was knocked down relatively quickly. Also a special thanks to chief 12 for his fine directions to the fill site that I Had a “bit” of trouble locating, your knowledge of water sources in the area is a valuable resource! Crews remained on the scene for most of the morning! Companies assisting on the scene from Lebanon: 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, LBF, 29, 32, 33, 35, 36, 38, 40, 41, 42, 46, 47, ct49, Hazmat 50 – Companies from Dauphin; 36, 39, 48 (Sorry if I missed anyone!)

Lebanon City - 4 Alarm Fire

07/30/2006 – Shortly after 16:00 hours Lebanon Bureau of Fire was alerted to a fire at 27 S. 2nd St.  Shortly after arriving on the scene Command 15 requested a total recall of off duty Firefighters. 16:30 hours Stations 25 & 26 requested to the scene.  Heavy fire and high temperatures required to command to request additional companies to the scene. Company 10 placed on stand-by on station at 16:34 hours and the Rescue was requested to the scene at 17:15 hours.  Units remained on the scene for about 4 hours. Companies that responded to this incident: Engines 15,19,21,25,26,27,28,29(Stand by in quarters),43 / Towers 5,9,18,26,31 / Ladders 20, 36 / Rescues 10, 24, 25 / Squad 8, 22 / Ambulances 140 ,160, First Aid & Safety Patrol ESU (Extended Service Unit), Canteen 49, multiple 190 units.

Residential Structure Fire

07/20/2006 – Shortly before 10:00 hours Company 10 was alerted to assist at a structure fire at 10669 Jonestown Rd. in E. Hanover Twp.  Chief 12(Hetrick) arrived on the scene and confirmed a working fire and immediately requested additional tankers. Company 10 personnel were assigned to assist with primary attack, water supply, etc. Crews remained on the scene for about 2 hours. Companies on the scene were 12(Ono fire), 75(Ft. Indiantown Gap), 7(waterworks), 6(Bellegrove), 5(Annville), 11(Lickdale), 39(Grantville), 1(Palmyra), and a special thanks to Company 14(Neversink) for transferring an Engine to our station!

The Flood of 2006

06/27/2006 – 06/29/2006 – The Rain started early Sunday morning June 25th and continued at an incredible rate on and off until Wednesday morning. Tuesday evening Company 10 was called for its first Water Rescue and would be kept very busy being called to a total of 8 Water Rescues, 1 Hazmat call and several Auto accidents. In between water Rescues for over 24 hours non-stop company 10 assisted with dozens of Pump Details. Included in the following pictures are 2of the many water rescues (Heilmandale Rd @ The Swatara Creek & Syner Rd. @ The Swatara Creek) and of an Auto Accident with Entrapment (I-81 Mile Marker 92). I personally would like to thank all of the members of Station 10 who gave selflessly of their time and sleep to help our community in this time of need you have my utmost respect for a job well done!

Auto Accident with Entrapment and Fire

06/09/2006 – 09:45 hours Co.10 was alerted to assist Co.41 with an accident on Interstate 78 east bound at mile marker 6. County advised Chief 41(Gruber) of numerous calls accident involving 2 tractor trailers both overturned and at least one on fire with entrapment.  Chief 41 immediately requested 2 additional tankers and was also advised by county of response by the Hazmat Team.  Co.10 personnel assisted with extinguishment and extrication. Crews were on scene for about an hour and a half. The interstate was closed east bound for a good portion of the day! Companies on scene – 41(Fredericksburg), 11(Lickdale), 47(Bunkerhill),50 (Lebanon Hazmat), EMS from FASP, and Life Lion.

2nd Alarm House fire

05/21/2006 – 13:00 hours Command 15 requested a 2nd Alarm be transmitted for working multiple house fires at 304 Weidman St. in Lebanon City. Rescue 10 was assigned to assist and relieve crews on scene with extensive over haul operations. The rescue was on scene for about 2 hours. Also On scene were crews from the Lebanon Bureau of Fire, 9, 25, 26, 28, 43

Fully Involved Barn Fire

05/12/2006 – 23:41 hours Rescue 10 was alerted to assist at a barn fire at 237 Freeport Rd. in Bethel Twp. Upon responding the fire was visible from Jonestown. The rescue assisted with extinguishment and extensive overhaul. Co.10 was back in quarters about 2 ½ hours later. Companies on scene 41(Fredericksburg), 40(Mt. Zion), 43(Rural Security), 42(Glen Lebanon), 32(Kutztown), Berks 53(Frystown), CT 49(Salvation Army)

Antique Auto Vs. A Utility Pole

05/11/2006 – Well they just don’t build them like they used too! Rescue 10 was alerted for an Auto Accident just after 23:00 hours. County advised Chief 11(Snyder) of a single vehicle VS. a utility pole. Chief 11 arrived on the scene advised negative entrapment and the pole still intact. The rescue was assigned to assist with patient packaging and care. The car( 49' Hudson) while it did suffer some damage appeared to be in better shape than the cars of today would have made out under the same circumstances! The rescue was on scene for about 20 minutes. Also on scene Co. 11(Lickdale)

Tractor Trailer Accident with Fire

05/10/2006 – Just before 18:00 hours Rescue 10 was alerted to an Auto Accident on I-78 at The I-81 Split in Union Twp.  Chief 11(Snyder) arrived on scene and confirmed at working Tractor Trailer fire as a result of collision with another Tractor Trailer. 2 additional tankers were requested. The rescue was assigned to assist the engine crew from company 11 with extinguishment as the occupants of the Tractor Trailers were all out their vehicles. After a lengthy overhaul and spill/run off control the Rescue was released and back in quarters after about 2 hours. Companies on scene 11(Lickdale), 12(Ono), 41(Fredericksburg), 50(Lebanon County Hazmat), Ambulance 75.

05/05/2006 – Shortly after 17:00 hours box 10-01 was alerted for an MVA with roll over on Rt.72 north of Jonestown Rd. Chief 10(Bachman) arrived on scene to find a passenger car on the bank in heavy brush with the occupants all self extricated. Engine & Rescue 10 were assigned to secure the vehicle and check for fluid leaks. Co 10 was back on station about an hour later.

Auto Accident with Confinement

04/30/2006 – Shortly before 14:00 hours box 12-97 was struck for Rt.22 & Racehorse Dr. in E. Hanover Twp. for an Auto Accident with Injury.  P.S.P. arrived on the scene and advised that there was entrapment. Deputy 12(Funck0 arrived and established incident command. Assistant 10(Showers) arrived on scene simultaneously and advised that patient was confined and due to a back injury would be necessary to take the roof.  Rescue 10 preformed the extrication and with assistance from Co. 12(Ono Fire) personnel and E.M.S. had that completed in about 15 minutes. The rescue was back on station just before 14:30 hours.

Residential Structure Fire

04/28/2006 – 09:30 hours, Company 10 responded to 20 dry Creek lane in Union Twp. Box 11-02. EMS arrived on scene confirmed a working fire. Engine 10 arrived and laid a 5 inch supply line and then advanced a 2 inch attack line into the structure. Engine 10-1 supplied the 5 inch from the “Hard Road” and Engine 11 advance a 2nd line into the structure. The main body of fire was knocked down in 15-20 minutes and crews worked for the next 2-3 hours on extensive overhaul operations. Co.10 was back quarters shortly before 01:00 hours. Companies on scene 11(Lickdale), 12(Ono), Tankers 41(Fredericksburg), 47(Bunkerhill), Amb.190

04/24/2006 – 07:20 hours Engine & Rescue 10 were dispatched to Rt.22 & Old Rt.22 in Swatara Twp.  For an accident with injuries. The crew from the rescue popped the driver’s side door open and assisted E.M.S. with patient care and packaging. Co. 10 was back in station about 45 minutes later. Also on scene Co.47 (Bunkerhill) and Amb. Co.190

Helicopter Crash

04/20/2006 – Shortly before 16:30 hours reports of a Helicopter down at Shirks church Rd & Coon Creek Rd in E. Hanover Twp. came in to Lebanon County Communications. Chief 12(Hetrick) advised of a column of smoke in the area prior to his arrival. Chief 12 arrived on the scene and requested Crash 75(Ft. Indiantown Gap FD) to respond to assist with extinguishment. Rescue 10 was assigned to assist with extinguishment and scene security. Crews were on the scene for about 4 hours. Companies on scene 12(Ono), 6(Bellegrove), 75(Ft. Indiantown Gap), Amb.190 & 4

Basement Fire

04-20-2006 – 02:00 hours Co.10 was called to assist at a structure fire at 402 Donna Dr. in Swatara Twp. Box 47-05. Chief 10(Bachman) arrived on scene confirming a smoke condition in the structure. Engine 10 arrived shortly after the chief and stretched a 2 inch hand line into the structure. Captain 10 located a small fire in the basement and requested the hand line be charged. Engine 10-1 laid a supply line to the hydrant and manpower assisted the Engine 10.  The rescue provided lighting and Air supply as well providing additional manpower. After a quick knock down crews were on scene for a little over an hour.  Additional stations on scene Company 47(Bunkerhill) & Amb. Co. 190

Commercial Structure Fire

03-26-2006 – Box 11-03 was dispatched at 20:00 hours for a smoke condition in the Days Inn in Lickdale. Chief 11(Snyder) arrived on the scene to find a light smoke condition on all 4 floors of the structure. Engine 10 was assigned to lay a 5 inch supply line from the hydrant and crews from both engine and rescue were to assist with interior operations. Engine 10-1 was assigned to pick the supply line at the hydrant. Crews were on the scene for over 2 hours investigating the cause of the smoke condition. Companies on scene – 11(Lickdale), 12(Ono), EMS 190.

Auto Accident with Fire

03-26-2006 – Box 10-01 was alerted just after 18:00 hours for and Accident with fire at the Intersection of King & Market Streets in Jonestown Borough.  Chief 10(Bachman) arrived to find a 2 vehicle accident with an engine compartment fire in a Chevy cobalt. Engine 10 was assigned to fire attack and the Rescue crew assisted with mop up and patient evaluation. Co. 10 was back in quarters about 45 minutes later.

Auto accident with Rollover

03-26-2006 – Just after 09:30 hour’s box 12-97 was dispatched for I-81 south bound at mile marker 86. Chief 12 (Hetrick) arrived on scene and advised of a stability issue with an overturned SUV & Camper trailer. The rescue was assigned to assist with stabilization and patient care. Rescue 10 was back in quarters about 45 minutes later. Companies on scene 12 (Ono), E.M.S. 190.

Auto Accident

03-26-2006 – 08:14 hours Rescue 10 responded to 106 Ridge Rd. in union Twp. On Box 46-04. Command 46 assigned the rescue to assist with setting up a Life Lion landing zone. The rescue was back quarters about 45 minutes later. Also on scene Co.46 (Green Point), E.M.S. 190, & Life Lion.

Commercial Structure Fire

03-23-2006 – 00:30 hours Box 10-56 was dispatched to 411 Jonestown Rd. at the Supreme Mid-Atlantic Corporation plant # 3 for a possible structure fire.  Assistant 10(Showers) arrived on the scene to find a working dumpster fire with extension into the structure. Engine 10 was assigned to drop a 5 inch supply line from a near by hydrant and begin fire attack.  Engine 10-1 and The Rescue were assigned to completion of the connection of the supply line to the hydrant. Engine 11 was assisted the crew from engine 10 and pulled a 2nd line. A quick interior knock down and ventilation resulted in only a small amount of structural damage. The box was in service a little over an hour later.  Companies on scene 11(Lickdale), 12(Ono), 47(Bunkerhill), E.M.S. 190.

Accident with Entrapment

03-12-2006 – Shortly before 10:00 hours Box 10-02 was dispatched Rt. 22 & Rt. 72 in Union Twp. for an Auto Accident with entrapment. Assistant 10 (Showers) arrived on scene and confirmed entrapment. The rescue crew was assigned to extrication and the engine crew assisted. Extrication was complete in about 15-20 minutes. Company 10 was back in station about an hour and half later. Also on scene EMS Co. 190

Multi-Vehicle Accident

02/26/2006 – Just before 10:00 hours Box 11-96 was dispatched for an MVA with roll over. Captain 11(Adams) arrived on scene advised of an accident involving 30-40 vehicles and 1 vehicle with entrapment. The rescue was assigned to extrication, after a door pop the crew assisted with patient care and packaging. All injuries were minor and at least 6 were transported to area hospitals. Crews were on scene well into the afternoon. Companies on scene: 11(Lickdale), 75(Ft. Indiantown Gap), 41(Fredericksburg), 5(Annville). 6(Bellegrove), FASP – 5 BLS & Extended service unit, Amb. 75(Ft. IG), Dauphin Medic 7(S. Central)


Auto Accident

02/15/2006 – 11:00 hours Box 46-08 went out for an auto accident on Rt.433 and Goldmine Rd. Rescue 10 arrived on scene advised county the incident was on Rt.72 south of Rt.443 and Chief 10(Bachman) assumed command. Crews assisted with patient packaging as the patient had extricated them selves from the vehicle and climbed up a 75 foot bank to flag down passing motorists. All crews were on scene for about 45 minutes. Companies on scene: 46(Greenpoint), 11(Lickdale).


Residential Structure Fire

02/09/2006 - At 09:15 hour’s box 12-01 was sounded for 52 racehorses Dr. for a structure fire. Engine 10 arrived on scene advised of a working fire and took incident command. The engine crews assisted by the crew from truck 12 extended a 2 inch hand line and made a quick knock down of the fire. Overhaul was extensive and crews were wrapped up just short of 2 hours after dispatch. Companies assisting on scene: 12(Ono), 75(Ft. Indiantown Gap), 6(Bellegrove), 7(Waterworks) Dauphin County Co.’s 39(Grantville), 36(West Hanover).


Hazmat Incident

01/24/2006 – Shortly before 17:00 hours Box 41-01 was dispatched for a chlorine leak @ 151 W. main St. @ Farmers Pride. Deputy 41(Quairoli) arrived on scene confirming an active leak from a 100 pound cylinder and advised an evacuation of the plant was in progress. Co.10 personnel assisted with the evacuation, the hazmat team, and also provided cascade services. Crews were on scene for about a 1 ½ hours. Companies on scene 41, 11, 40, 47, and Hazmat 50.


Tractor Trailer crash with Fire

01/01/2006 – Shortly before 2300 hours Box 41-97 was struck for a Tractor trailer crash with fire Interstate 78 west bound at MM 7. Chief 41(Gruber) arrived on scene confirming a working fire and requested additional Tankers and Rescue 10. A special call went out for Engine 10 to establish a fill site at Sherwin Williams Dr. and Pine Grove St. The rescue crew assisted with extinguishment and over haul. Co.10 was back in station shortly after 01:00 hours. Also on scene were crews from Co.41 (Fredericksburg Fire), 11(Lickdale Fire), 47(Bunkerhill Fire), 50(Lebanon Hazmat), Berks County 53(Frystown Fire), 54(Bethel Fire), E.M.S. 190


Auto Accident with Confinement

01/01/2006 – The New Year started at 00:52 hours as company 10 responded on 10-02 box Jonestown Rd. at the Swatara Creek Bridge. A full size Durango flipped on its side. Assistant Chief 10(Showers) arrived on scene confirming 2 patients confined with minor injuries. Crews from the engine and rescue assisted the occupants from the vehicle. Co. 10 was clear of the scene about 45 minutes later. Also on scene E.M.S. Co. 190 & 75.
